My hair

Hey guys!

I wanted locks for about as long as I can remember. I was just always so afraid of the stigma that comes with the process and I was really afraid to find out what texture my natural hair was. I mean, my hair was lovely when I rocked the perm, but I had no idea what to expect from my natural hair. Believe it or not for a long time, I postponed my big chop because I connected short natural hair with being lesbian-I know now that that is a completely crazy way of thinking but its what I thought. I've always been thick up and am super comfortable in a t-shirt, jeans and a pair of Chuck Taylors. Anyways, I did it and fell in love with my natural hair.

About 9 months into that journey, I started locking my hair and fell in love with my locs. I have been maintaining my locs for the most part. When I visit home, I go to Felicia at B. Jazzy Hair Salon in Jacksonville. Although it takes a lot of effort on my part, I do it because I have always been afraid to have the 'natty locs'. I have always liked the 'neat loc' look. At least thats what I thought. Until I decided I wanted to retwist my hair the other day. So I was doing my hair, did a hot oil treatment and sit down to twist my hair and realize that I don't have any shea butter to twist my hair with. So I dry my hair, kicking myself because the store where I purchase the product from is already closed. As I sit under the dryer, I try to think about what I can do to my hair to make look decent. I try the ponytail in every possible way and hated each look-i looked like a little girl. So I gave up and let it hang loose-poofy and all-and I love it.
